This cheesecake is a favorite around our house, but we don't make it very often due to it's prohibitive cost. But yesterday we decided to splurge and I got to work on my culinary masterpiece! I have officially decided that I love making cheesecake! :) I was going to take pictures of the creation process, but I forgot until I was about half-way done and then found out that my sister had taken her camera to work with her, so the finished product will have to do.
Child, you are one awesome baker/cook!! You are going to make some lucky young man a wonderful wife!! I don't have to taste the cake to know it's delicious! Good job!
Now, may I ask for your recipe for the CCCIceCream? Your Mom posted a picture and it just made my mouth water, LOL!
BTW, I think this baking/cooking thing may be a calling of sorts Abbie. Have you considered some formal training?
Thank you, Yaya! I'm sorry! I had actually been in the middle of giving you that recipe when Mom "stole" the computer from me and I keep forgetting about it. Here it is:
Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream
Ingredients: 1 1/2 cups chocolate chip cookie dough 2 large eggs 3/4 cup sugar 2 cups heavy cream, or whipping cream 1 cup milk 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Directions: Chop cookie dough into bite-sized pieces. Place in a bowl, cover and freeze. Whisk the eggs in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy, 1 to 2 minutes. Whisk in the sugar, a little at a time, then continue whisking until completely blended, about 1 minute more. Pour in the cream and milk, and whisk to blend. Add the vanilla and whisk to blend again. Transfer the mixture to an ice cream maker and freeze following the manufacturer's directions. When the ice cream is quite stiff (about 1 minute before it is done), add the chopped cookie dough. Be sure to wait until the last possible minute or the dough will get sticky and unmanageable. Continue freezing until done. Makes 1 quart.
I have not thought of doing any formal training although that does sound like fun! I'm not sure what I would do with it other than cook for my family. I would LOVE to start a business selling baked goods, but since we live in the city I would have to abide by the codes and our kitchen doesn't pass. :(
Abby, I think it's a fabulous idea on starting a baked goods business. I have a cookbook by an enterprising woman who used to sell muffins in a little wagon, door to door I believe. Eventually she had to abide by those city codes, but was able to procure an arrangement with the Fire Dept. allowing her to use their kitchen because it met the requirements. Research where you can obtain capital, there are what are called 'angel' investors. I just know you can make it happen! I'm just throwing ideas around. But the real reply is "The Lord can make it happen for you, if it's his will and plan for you". Have faith, and do the legwork.
Culinary training would be a huge asset when you have your own family. Believe me, I wish I had done it when I was younger. But it wasn't until I was about 39 that I realized how much I enjoyed cooking and baking. You're lucky you are so young and know already what you want AND have the stamina to keep up with the rigours of such training.
May the Lord bless you and guide you Abbie.
Oh, and thank you so much for the recipe! I will definitely be buying an ice cream maker for good recipes such as this one!
I am a follower of Christ and I try to put Him first in everything that I do. I want to reach out to hurting people and tell them there's a better way. I want to marry a godly man to whom Christ is more important than anything else and help him in his calling and I want to raise as many children as God gives me for His glory.
I was home schooled all my life along with my 8 siblings.
I tend to be very opinionated most of the time.
I like to write.
I like to dance in the rain.
I like to go ice-skating.
I like barn dancing (English Country/Contra Dance).
I occasionally do out of the ordinary things for fun.
I laugh very easily and very often.
I am not a Calvinist, but several of my friends are.
I am not Baptist, but lots of my friends are.
I believe a true Christan can turn their back on God and fall away as evidenced in too many scriptures to list here.
I love music and started playing the piano when I was 7.
